Skin needling triggers the skin’s remodelling process by creating thousands of tiny micro-injuries in the dermis, generating new collagen without causing the formation of scar tissue.
Procedures typically take only 45 minutes, depending on the size treated and the desired results. Due to their non-invasive nature, micro-needling sessions usually require little to no downtime for patients.
How Does Skin Needling Work?
The micro-needling device causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process. The micro-injuries trigger the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to remodelling of collagen and elastin.
Phase I: Inflammation
Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
Phase II: Proliferation
The wound is re-built with new granulation cells, as well as a temporary (type III) collagen and elastin, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
Phase III: Remodelling
The wound has been replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels. The type III collagen in the newly formed tissue is replaced with stronger type I collagen, which can contract to create a tightening or “shrinkwrap” effect on the skin.
What Are The Benefits?
The needling pen uses multiple needles that vertically pierce the skin. This enhances rejuvenation results and is far safer for the client because there is much less epidermal damage.
The automatic vibrating function of the needling pen increases the effectiveness and efficiency of treatments by increasing absorption of products, whilst reducing pain and discomfort.
Downtime is minimal and returning to work the next day with light make-up with no signs of the treatment is the expectation.
